Saddle bags

Post by bobgerman »

I have a 1965 r69s that I'm restoring and I just got the saddle bags for her. They are Craven Equipment. Does anybody know anything about these bags? They're in tough shap but restorable.

Craven was in the pannier

Post by R.D.Green »

Craven was in the pannier business for quite a long while as you can see from Jeff's site. Personally, I favor the look of the Golden Arrows on /2 BMW's, as does Jeff. A major factor in fitting Cravens to a vintage BMW is having the correct rack to go along with them. The racks are probably more rare than the bags. You can mount the bags without the correct rack but you're in for a lot of jury rigging. I had a chance to buy a complete set of Craven Dolomites last year, complete with rack and topbox but I passed on them because I don't really care for the look of the Dolomites. Just my taste. If I saw a nice set of Golden Arrows for sale though, I'd be on them for sure.
