This generation is the best

This generation is the best of the Airheads, I think. I have an '81 twin shock R65, which I really enjoy, but these "Monolever" swingarm models have the best handling. Didn't BMW drop the R65 after 1987?

Phil Hawksley's website says the R65 Mono ended production in 1993.

Interesting. I wonder if they were only available in Europe that late. I don't recall seeing them here after about 1987. B&S and BMW NA have not always brought in everything that BMW AG made, the R45 being just one example. If I finished updating the BMW Models pages, I'm sure I'd know more about this, because I'm sure the information is visible in the serial number ranges.

You might be right. When

You might be right. When looking at Phil's listing of numbers, the US numbers go to about 1985 but the European numbers continue past that.

Ian Falloon's book indicates that the "new" model R65 was available in the US through 1987.
