BING 53 For my R26!

Post by Manifesto1984 »

I try to adjust a Bing 53 (1/26/111) for my R26.
Do you think is possible that?

It works but i see a lot of black smoke from exhaust.
I think the problem is in jets.
I put 35 idle jet and 155 main jet. I think if i put an 135 main jet it will be OK.

Do you know where i can found jets and other parts for this carb?

Wow! The Type 53 carb is for

Wow! The Type 53 carb is for an R60/5 bike. I guess since one cylinder is 300cc and yours is 250cc, maybe that's not much of a difference...dunno. But black smoke, espeically at idle, can't be the main jet...it would be in the idle circuit and idle jet. I think it's going to take quite a bit of dialing in to get this right.

Bing in Kansas would be where I would go. Since you're really going to an extreme to make this work, I think you're going to need people with some serious experience. They can sell you all of the parts you need.

Bigger or Smaler?

Post by Manifesto1984 »

You thing is better to change the idle jet with one bigger or smaller?
I thing the main jet 155 it's to big.

i tried to adjust the carb from air screw and from idle speed but it doesn't happen anything. It works the same when both are open or closed.

What size of jets you suggest to use?

First, have you gone through

Post by schrader7032 »

First, have you gone through a cleaning for this carb? It's important that all passages and interior of the carb is clean.

As I said, I think this is a crap-shoot, but I would start with the original settings of a -111 carb and go from there. The Bing book says:

- idle jet -- 40
- main jet -- 140
- clip position -- 2nd from the top
- idle mixture setting -- 1/2 turn out
- needle jet -- 2.68
- jet needle -- 234 (this can't really be seen on the needle, however)

The Bing manual also mentions numbers for the slide (#570), but have to assume you have the stock part in the Type 53 carb.

After these initial settings, then you'll just have to experiment. As I said, Bing would have more experience about swapping carbs like this. Drop them an email if you have to.
