I purchased a 1952 R67/2 about 6 months ago and immediately brought it to a vintage BMW mechanic for gear box work. As typical, it is taking more time (and dollars) than expected. One of the time delays is that the mechanic frequently has to source parts out of Germany from one of the major suppliers over there (Vech doesn't have it). Once he orders the part(s) it can take a minimum of 2 weeks but most often 4 weeks for the parts to get to his shop in Florida. I've asked him to expedite shipping (2-3 days) but to no avail it seems to always take 2-4 weeks long (usually 4 weeks). This is really dragging out the rebuild of the gear box.
Can folks with experience ordering from the major suppliers in Germany provide feedback on shipping times?
I'll let you know if a few weeks... I ordered something from Uli's and it's been about a week. I placed the order using their on-line system and paid for it. Interestingly, there was no question about how to ship or the cost of shipping, so that's left me wondering.

Fast. Neat. Average. Friendly. Good. Good.
You might check out Mark Huggett GmbH in Switzerland (www.bmwbike.com). He has a lot of stuff and is a supplier for BMW's Group Classic. But the Swiss Post is no faster, and just as expensive.
The only things I've gotten fast from Europe have been some repop parts for my prewar bikes from Poland. The Polish post has been really fast and pretty cheap. I got two wheels for my R12 in less than a week.

Meyer is the quickest via Ebay, the best and the one I always prefer is Motorrad Stemler given their range of parts, online catalogs and price list, quality and German efficiency however they don't run the post office so it's a minimum 3 weeks wait. They do offer an expedited service which takes 2 3/4 weeks!
talked to the mechanic yesterday, looks like the rod for the shift forks came in yesterday.... next week we'll see if this is the final piece to the puzzle of getting the gear box back in shape and the bike on the road!!
