performance upgrades

Check out these articles on the following website - 9, 10, 31, 53A, 77.

Look things over...you might find other subjects.

I prefer a stock setup so I have no experience. But things that seem like would help a bike (some with limited results):

- dual disk ATE front brake
- dual plugging
- high compression pistons
- slide carbs
- 336 cam
- lightened flywheel
- post '80 clutch carrier (this requires some major changes, probably the transmission)
- top triple tree billet brace
- lower fork brace
- additional frame cross bracing (ala what was done to the '76 R90S that Reg Pridmore ran to win the Superbike competition)
- exhaust
- intake (K&N filters; personnally I don't like this...I think BMW knew what they were doing)

Do you have access to a Clymer maintenance manual? A lot of these things are mentioned at the back of the manual as performance improvements. I have an old dilapidated copy of the manual.

Fast. Neat. Average. Friendly. Good. Good.

performance upgrades

has anyone heard of performance upgrades for 70's boxers? Would like to give my 78 R80/7 a boost. Other than bigger bore, anything else? Air intake seems like a starting point.
