R25/3 throttle cable replacement

Post by richardjharding »

When I bought my r25 last year it had a carb I didn't recognise - possibly SAWE? but there are no markings on it and I struggled to get the bike to run well so I purchased a refurb bing 1/24/42 carb from oldtimer vergasser but when I offered it up it looks like the throttle cable is far too short so I'm looking to replace it but I can't see from the manual how to disconnect the old cable from the throttle control on the handlebar - there seems no way to get access to the end to unclip? - do I need to remove the grip somehow?

I went through the same mystery tour of internal cable when the owner wanted to add bar-end turn signals. Interesting design.
