Yes
Don't attach fairing yet

Good chance 3 of the problems noted
Tail light
Headlight
Parking light in headlight
are all related to the headlight relay
If your friend cant find spare

Does your new EMI diagram have the internal details of the headlight relay in the headlight shell ?
Mine just shows pin #'s
I do have them on the B/W diagram and will pass that on if needed

Thank you Mr B. Good to know that one will work, B2B, EME, and others are a bunch more $$. Ordered... was about to make an Amazon order anyway. I'll check for those pin numbers and let you know.

Take a look at the factory relay, it may have the internal diagram printed or scribed on the side. St.

One clarification: Above I said the headlight wire colors on the diagram are White, Red, Yellow, & Gray/Black. Correction: What sorta looks like a dark red on the diagram, the color key says is Brown, the Red is RED. So, I should have said the wires, according to the chart, are White, Brown, Yellow, & Gray/Black. The wires of my headlight harness are Blue, Green, Brown, & Red/Gray. (I may not have them listed in the correct order.) The connectors have all been cleaned, the crimps re-crimped, and new heat shrink put on. They're plugged back in to the correct terminals according to the diagram.

The relay internal diagram is shown on the side of the relay as well as the standard relay terminal labels, 85, 86, 87, 87a, & 30. The one I've got coming in has the wiring diagram and names the terminals 85, 86, 87, 87b, & 30. With that info as well as the wire color for each, I should be in good shape. I'll know tomorrow.

Yes
The pin out numbers and colors are correct for the Relay Headlight Socket but doesn't show the internals like the same 5 pin starter relay

Hope you get your part today
Looks like the headlight and starter relay are interchangeable

Re: Another /6 Electrical Question

So, the question for today is about success. Is success something that comes in degrees or is it an all or nothing proposition?

I have lights! Headlight; both hi and lo beam as you would expect/hope. I also have a tail light, as you would expect/hope. And parking lights, but unfortunately I have parking lights ALL THE TIME even w/ the key off and no matter the headlight switch position, as long as the battery is hooked up! Guess I've got to check to make sure the switch is working correctly and that the wires from the switch are plugged into the correct places. I suppose it could be something in the ignition switch or could it be something w/ the new relay I just put in?

I'm not sure if I'm partially successful or not successful. Maybe it's a "glass half-full or half-empty" situation. Under normal circumstances I fall into the half-full category. Maybe I got it working but now it works too well.

First place I would look is the ignition switch. It is not hard to get a wire on the wrong pin.
Other than that, check the places the gray, and gray/black wires are plugged into, something may be off. Good luck, St.

Thank you. I was about to run out and check that. That hasn't been messed with since I got the thing so unless I've got gremlins out there messing w/ me after I leave that SHOULD be as it's been for the last 30-50 years. More likely dirt, corrosion, or some kind of fault, I'd think. I'm wondering, though, if there's something going on w/ the handlebar switch. The high beam (blue in tach) indicator is still on when the park light is on. It doesn't make any sense to me that it would be on because the only wire to it is from the flasher switch and hi beam bulb via #56a. Oh well, I'm still more bemused than flat-out frustrated so rationality still seems to be functioning. Haven't gotten to the Oh, sh*t stage yet.
