Horn mounting on R69s

Post by 1967 R502 »

Anyone got a picture of how their horn is mounted on an R69s?

I picked up a new project. It’s an R69s. The horn was mounted in some crazy fashion, so that had to go.

- The two extra mounting brackets for the horn on the R50S/R69s were missing.
- The hydraulic steering damper is in the way of using the “stock” /2 mounting location without the mounts.
- However, having just acquired a set of the “s” mounts, I can find no photos on the web and no tech diagram indicating how the horn is supposed to be positioned. Out to the left side? Back to the center? The latter again seems to interfere with the hydraulic damper. It’s not an impossible fit… just not a great one.

Pictures appreciated. If you’ve replaced your hydraulic damper with a friction steering damper, this will not apply to you.

Hi - I hope the attached pictures help. I've always been concerned by how close to the tank the horn is, but it seems to be fine. You'll need suitable lock washers etc.
