R51/3 Rear Brake Lever Position

One of the oddities I have encountered on my R51/3 is the position of the rear brake pedal. As shown in the attached photo, it sits well above the level of the footpeg. This necessitates a rather unnatural (to me) movement when needing to apply the brakes: Rather than just sliding my foot forward as I am accustomed to, I need to lift my foot off the peg, find the lever, and then press down. The lever also seems to encounter interference from the muffler as it comes down. preventing it from fully engaging,

To my eye, it looks like there either needs to be a spacer of some kind to provide clearance to the muffler. or that perhaps the assembly is not correct for this bike. Thoughts?

Hi - pretty sure you need to move your footpeg down a notch on the rear engine mount, and readjust the brakes from there.

As for the exhaust interference, the brake lever look correct to me. Maybe your exhaust isn't fully narrowed up onto the crossover?

I concur! Yes, as Chis stated, your peg is too high up.

I had the same problem with my R25. It happened to be the wrong brake lever. When I sourced the correct one with less upwards bow, it was sitting fine relative to the foot peg.

I'm a bit confused...how does moving the peg down help anything?

The brake lever rests on the underside of the footpeg.

Same here. I also have my (original) pedal sitting well above the level of the footpeg.
I played with all the parts that are in the "rear brake system chain", tried all kind of options and never got it right.

Is there a guide or protocol regarding the assembly of it and its calibration?

Now I remember. I had a R51/3 - R68 brakelever on my R25 and it was also sticking up way too high. I replaced it with a R25/3 and now it looks and feels normal. So, you could always source a R25/3 lever.

Have you already dealt with the brake lever? Did it work for you?
I remember that when I lowered the position of the lever, the stroke of the braking was really impossible and it ended somewhere below, when the pressure of my foot was no longer anatomically effective...
