I started to do the test and actually looked at the stator..and finally realized something was off.

Sometime in the past, the D+ terminal had been cut off. I got the stator off the other R27 restoration and that one has five terminals,

while this one with the cut-off D+ only has four.

So the blue wire connection was actually going on 1 which is connected to the terminal to the right.

Any ideas why someone would cut the fiberboard to remove a D+ terminal?

Almost there.

I now have everything working including the charging...if that it charges so much it blew the bulb out after the bulb got REAL bright.and I know why.

The brown/black wire for the DF terminal needs a new home.

With the D+ missing now, they wired the positive brush to the DF terminal...which leaves the B/B wire hanging.

Thought I'd attach it to the blue wire..so nothing to limit the charging voltage..and blew the bulb.

Now to find a place for that final wire

Ideas...or does anyone have a good R27 stator for sale?

That is great--- field coils and armature are good
Yes it is charging but the regulator is not working and cant limit the output voltage

I had the same problem with a broken D+ terminal but was able to repair mine

Its almost 10pm here and will post more tomorrow

Yours looks like mine! Missing the D+ terminal..and cut off in the same manner.

I think tomorrow I'll take the D+ wire off the DF terminal and attach it directly to the blue wire,,then I'll have a home for the B/B wire on the DF. Then see if I blow another charging light bulb

That sounds correct
Now you have a good stator to view

So the end terminal on your stator with the blue or grey wire should go to F on the regulator

And the D+ brush should be connected to the small blue charge bulb wire and also D+ on the regulator

Copy of my static measurement of regulator and diagram

I just got a 1966 R50/2 and the red light on the head lamp just started to blink while riding rather than going off. The more throttle the faster the blinking. At idle it stays solid red. Any ideas on what to check.

Sorry, I've been heads down with /5 cafe build rewire, R25 main harness rewire, GS fab project...and the usual K alternator failure. Always something different around here. Oh, and an Airhead campout up on the coast last weekend..great fun .

Which means this R27 got put on the side for a bit.

BUT..as soon as I finish the R67 electron failure tomorrow morning, the R27 goes back on the lift for a step-by-step look at every connection and the brushes..The solution has got to be something so simple and obvious ...that I just can't see it.
