R26 Restoration Progress

Post by VintageJim »

It has been over a year now since I purchased my R26 that looked pretty and had receipts from engine and transmission rebuild. Before starting it I was checking things out and everywhere I looked I would find something that was not quite correct. To make a year long story short I ended up taking everything apart and replacing every possible bearing and seal, and having Max rebuild and balance the crank, install 1st over piston, and completely rebuild the head. I replaced all clutch related parts and rebuilt the trans and rear drive. I had the frame blasted and powder coated and amazingly enough, the sheet metal painting and striping were done to a very high standard and did not need to be redone. Now I am in the fun stage of reassembly! I could not have done this without help from you and this site and the Barrington Bible that I read and followed every suggestion religiously. I will start posting some pictures and will hopefully have a First Start video in the next couple of weeks!
