With the new Morad wheels on the bike it's once again a roller. I was also able to install the seat and handlebars. I've had to send the left hand controls back to the powdercoater twice so I hoped they sort that out soon. I'm also being told the tank, fenders and headlight bucket may be ready this week. My fingers are crossed. In the meantime I'm gathering and ordering all the parts I need to start on the engine. FYI ... the black front shocks are loaners until I get the Dover white shock tops from the painter.

The steering damper is installed but I'm still fiddling with it. Hopefully I can "calibrate" it sometime this week to make sure it's working the way it was designed. Getting excited ...........

Thank you for this thread. As a first time owner of a vintage BMW (also 1967 R69s) I am learning a lot about these bikes from your thread.

You're welcome. I would not be able to do all this without the help from this group. It's a great resource. Don't hesitate to ask questions.

Nothing like a nice rebuilt crank. I hope to have it installed very soon. :-)

Last week I was also able to find all the parts to install a friction type damper. After a little paint it was ready to install. IMHO its soooo much simpler and easy to install. Until I can locate a silent block for the hydraulic damper Im going with the friction damper for now.

Question ... in the first photo of the damper installed on the frame there is a horizontal bolt and nut to the right of the damper. Can anyone tell me what that's for? Some kind of steering block? I cant find any information about it.

Thanks

I tried to take a look on my '69 and think I can see that hole. But the forward part of the steering damper is anchored there. Are you sure you have yours installed correctly? I can't seem to find any images in the fiche.

That's the limiting bolt for the hydraulic anchor linkage, not applicable when using a friction damper.
Best,

Thanks, George. I have the hydraulic damper installed. Installed, but never used.

Salis site seems to suggest 15+16 is a 6mm bolt for wheel hub and #17 description is a bearing bolt ?
