I just got mine fully restored and I wrote an article about it in the upcoming issue of the magazine. I can tell you that with the short stroke, the rear end ratio and the revs you can pull (7800 red line and higher :D ) the motorcycle is EXTREMELY fun to ride.

It is a very misunderstood model. My article for the magazine goes into why in depth.

All I can say is that they are undervalued....

The old saying is "Its worth what the buyer is willing to pay and the seller is willing to take", some factors to consider are: original or restored? What's worth more, A well preserved original R 50S with low to average miles on it or is it a fresh restoration with little to no miles on the rebuilt drive train? Maybe a bunch of correct parts assembled on a serial # matching frame and block is a better value for some? It really does boil down to the old saying in my opinion.

The silencers can be fixed. Lightening the flywheel not so easy. The heavy flywheel is one of the features I love about my R69. UP shift and that flywheel momentum is a pleasure.

I agree anything is only worth what some one is willing to sell it for versus what some one is willing to pay..

So which one of you crazy people are willing to fork over $39,000 for an R50S?
This one is mine....

If I didn't have a 26,000 mile one owner original condition 50s in my back yard shop I might give yours a go Vech. At least I know all the mechanicals are top notch, its got some good accessories and I do like the color. You really should keep it and ride the "you know what" out of it.

I have one for restoration, it has all the correct parts plus some incorrect red paint and chrome, motor turns with compression, tranny shifts, chassis rolls, but this is likely a candidate for a full restoration. If someone is serious I am willing to consider letting it go.
