Yeah, there's a range of opinions on break in. I've heard that the first 30-45 seconds is the most important when first started. During that time, the cylinder walls are covered in oil that has glazed allowing for a good amount of wear on the rings. I agree when it was said that keeping the RPMs down to no more than 75% of full power...maybe lower. Vary the engine speeds both accelerating and decelerating. Minimize idling. Basically you don't want to dwell at any one RPM. I went super overboard and changed my oil after my first 20 minute ride. Probably changed oil again at 100 miles and 500 miles. I didn't want the debris to have that much of a chance to get into the slingers.

Then there was the way I broke my /7 in after ring replacement back in the early 1980s. I just rode it like I typically did...I didn't do any of the above. I went 30+ years on that before I decided to do a top end at 100K miles.
