Condenser failure
I have a 1969 R60/2 and about every 200-300 miles I burn out a condenser.
The bike idles well after it warms up, runs well at speed other than some hesitation and popping every so often. The popping gets worse the the engine dies and I can’t start it until I change the condenser.
Is an electronic ignition upgrade recommended? I don’t ride it often but would like a reliable bike so I don’t worry so much about riding anywhere.
Thank You,
Anthony

Powerdynamo
I put a Powerdynamo 12V electronic ignition on my 68 R60/2 and I love it. Bright lights, easy start, works even if I let the battery go flat. I was hesitant to buy it at first as it was "not original", but I love it now.

condensor failure
I would try a different brand
I installed the powerdynamo on my r69s and could never get it to start well maybe because of the higher compression making the kickover rpm's to slow
Ended up taking it out and installing the original mag and all is well again
I did keep the 12 volt charging in place and now realize that if you change at least the headlight bulb with a LED it is not needed to upgrade to a 12 charging system
