Original Enduro Saddle bag restoration
Original Enduro Saddle bag restoration
I just found a set of original Enduro Saddle bags. They are the textured bags. Overall (structurally) they are in good shape. Most if not all of the mounting brackets are there and in fairly good shape.
The surface however needs to be addressed, specifically painted. Has anyone painted their bags? If so, what kind of paint? Flat, Gloss or Semi-Gloss? Any recommendations?
thanks

Enduro bags
Call me crazy but for the inside I was thinking about applying a coat of that Flex Seal. It would coat the inside, help waterproof and maybe even strengthen the shell.

Pin Strippings
Don't see many for sale
Where did you find them and how much did you pay
The pin stripping doesn't look original
Bluemoonscooter on ebay has the red lens if you need them
I wired the rear lights as extra brake lights instead of running lights and also added a dual filament bulb so I would have directional lights also
Plan to add a medium power LED for running lights someday

Enduro bags
I have seen ones in very good shape go for more than $1500.00 but haven't seen any in over 2 years
I modified my rear rack brackets to fit with the bags (the lower brackets don't have enough clearance) to go behind the bags and lower attachments points)
I can send pics if you ever want to add a rear rack

Hey Tommy,
Thanks for your input. Your earlier remarks regarding the lights in the bag have me wondering. There has to be a way to add a dual filament bulb for "running" and "brake" lights, correct? Since I don't have any turn signals Im guessing that is possible. If I get turn signals Ill get the handlebar mounted system. I have owned a 1200GS for years but this /2 is all new to me.
And yes, I really like the Flex Seal on the inside. It gives the bag a more substantial or solid feel. FYI, I did all of this in one day. I still have the flat side of the bags to paint but that should be easy. After that I will need to work on the lid, latches and mounts. If I didn't have to wait for the paint to dry I could probably do most of it in one day.
Paint
The Flex Seal did a really good job covering the fiberglass repairs from years ago.
