Drive shaft oil level

Post by docs43 »

This is for a 1971 R60/5.

What's the proper level or amount oil you should have in the drive shaft? The Clymer manual says use 100cc of gear oil when changing the shaft oil. It also indicates that you should see about 2mm of oil on a rod or screwdriver if you check the level through the filler hole and rest whatever it is you use to measure this on the top of the drive shaft. What's right here?

Thanks!

go with the measured 100cc amount - most accurate method.
