R27 Rear Motor Mount

Post by sblaylock »

Does anyone know how to remove the rear rubber motor mount from the bracket? It looks welded to me. I found replacements at Bench Mark Works but they're just the rubber mount.

Thanks,
Scott.

"and the answer was"... talk

"and the answer was"... talk to Vech.

I thought the mount had a threaded male end that screwed into the bracket. Actually, the bracket has the threaded bolt where the weld is that threads into the motor mount. The trick is finding a 22mm wrench thin enough to get the leftover mount off.

From your first picture, it

From your first picture, it was hard to see how threads should be exposed on the opposite of the bracket. I suppose it would have been obvious, once you got the part from Vech, that it would have been clear how the thing went together.

I had found some great pictures of an R27 by Allan Atherton, but they didn't show the mount in enough detail to really help out.

DO NOT WELD R27 MOTOR MOUNTS please

Post by c.d.iesel »

yes - the rubber mount has treaded studs on both ends - nut and washer is all that's
needed - and that first picture is a botched-up weld mod that someone added for
more power ???

The R27 I'm working on

Post by sblaylock »

The R27 I'm working on doesn't have the third mount on the back. I've ordered new ones and will get the bike back to normal.

Thanks for the feedback,
Scott.

Special Wrench

Post by sblaylock »

Several people I talked to suggested buying a cheap 22mm wrench and grinding it down to fit the motor mounts. I found a company called, of all things, Thin Wrench - http://www.thinwrench.info/ (No Affiliation) I ordered the 22mm Single and it worked perfectly.

Sorry for the out of focus phone picture.

Scott.
