R60/5 Pictures (Help)

Post by 5Rs »

Hello

Just got this 1972 R60/5 I traded my '85 K100RS for it. Could anyone tell me what brand solo seat this is? Also the spill bar, who made it and should there be another bar between them in the front? It has a pipe welded in the bar on each front side of each bar.

Thanks

WOW, nice bike! I've not seen a seat like that or the rear cowl on a /5. My guess that is custom work. Possibly the seat pan is for a stock solo seat:

but has been customized. Again, the cowl is quite unique.

As for the case guards, I haven't seen anything like that unless they're Luftmeister guards installed upside down:

There's a set on this page in the upper left that look like it but that curvy portion up top on your bike looks like it should be underneath the cylinders. Hard to tell.

Thanks, I installed the spill (crash) bars and they can only mount one way, they have a brace that bolts to the enginge mount under the cylinders. As for the seat it has a storage compartment that lifts up after you un-do the two straps with quick disconnect buckels.

My /7 has a small compartment

Post by schrader7032 »

My /7 has a small compartment in the nose of the seat once it's opened. It's probably meant for a first aid kit in Germany. I use it to store small items. Unfortunately, because of the small box, the amount of padding above it is limited which can make long term sitting a bit harder. I don't find it to ge a problem, though.

I had a '78 R100RS for a short while. Although that was fun to ride, the forward leaning riding style got old for me. I sold the bike, but it would still be nice to have it once in a while!

The engine guards look like they are same used on the /5 German police bikes(Avon?) and used to help mount the fairing and not sure on the seat.
