Value of a BMW R60us

Post by r60us »

where would be the best and most accurate place online to find the true monitary value of a 1968 BMW R60us. NADA seems decent, yet Kelly Blue Book doesnt even have this bike in its listing they only have prices for R50's. the bike im trying to value needs some work done to it before it can even be started. and the usual parts need replaced... spark plugs, throttle and brake cables, fuel petcock is gone, front wheel is bent, rubber intake tubes for carbs are rotten, paint it in decent shape and tins or virtually dent and rust free. so its a fair bike but i just am havning trouble getting a honest value. all of the sources i look into in my oppinion are under educated on the 'US' models and are giving the bike a much two generous value. please if you have any tips of a range of price let me know.

There is no "true" value. You

There is no "true" value. You will get opinions all over the place. Most, but not all, will agree that the US model is worth less than the earlier models. Recently, matching numbers bikes that are intact and in at least rolling condition are bringing $3000 and over. Pictures would be helpful if you want to get considered replies.

On the bike you describe, I would be most concerned about the bent front wheel. If it is really whacked, I would worry about fork damage.

Earles v. US

Post by jeff dean »

IMHO a US model in identical condition to an Earles model is worth less. I have owned several US models, and have sold them all. The Earles fork is part of the magic of the /2.

BTW, Earles models were earlier than the US models, yes, but were also contemporaneous to them. Earles models were made through 1969.
