I've been into BMW's for 20 years but they were all cars, so I'm diving in to start learning these bikes. I orderd an R67 reproduction manual on ebay and was directed this way.
As of right now the R67 is in need of a transmission rebuild, not sure if this is something I want to tackle or should tackle.
Anyways just saying hi and here's a few pics. And yes the front-end of the R67 isn't stock which maybe frowned upon by some.

The airhead has some nice
fork
Not sure on the fork, I will have too investegate. It's also got an 800 motor and another huge fiberglass tank (Heinrich maybe? will post a pic) and a dyna III ignition. I just drained the gas and gave it some fresh ethanol free gas, changed the plugs and adjusted the carbs a little and it runs strong.

You have a magneto system
The points plate is the Pentacomm system invented by Dr. Harms, designed to allow you to set the points gap while the engine is running. The stock system requires that you shut the bike down, make adjustments, then restart and check the new settings. The Pentacomm system also lets you use a more common set of points rather than something specific for the /2.

Fast. Neat. Average. Friendly. Good. Good.
12 volt

Ok great, so stock ignition with updated 12 volt system for lights.
Thanks!

So what is the deal with that
alternator
I'm assuming my father had an early 12 volt conversion done at some point, but don't really know all the details. I'm just being very cautious because I don't want to fry something up
I just sent out the transmission to Brooks Motor Works in Olympia, WA to get rebuilt, so hoping to be riding this spring!
