Front drum 3rd spring?

None in stock from BMW, but not NLA. Mine has been without for at least 3yrs and no problem. I can see it helping adjusting the pad contact point, but not much else.

The third spring is attached to the brake cam adjuster and the brake pivot arm and keeps the arm tensioned. The other two springs are of different rates and must be in the correct postion on the shoes. That info is in the manaul. These two springs are often misplaced so check the book.

I think that third spring has been missing from my '67 just about forever. It was not there when I re-lined the brakes at about 60,000 miles, and as far as I know, that was the first time the brakes had been worked on.

Now that the thought has been planted, it will be like water dripping. I expect I'll want to install it just so I can sleep.
