R60/2 Carb bodies and Jets

Post by hbheywood »

I am restoring a 1967 R60 /2. The carburetors do not match: one is a 1/24/151 with a 125 main jet and the other is a 1/24/134 with a 110 main jet. What I need to know is whether the carb bodies are the same (they appear to be), whether I should re-jet the two carbs the same, and which jets to use. Thanks in advance for your response.

Here's a table Allan put up which shows the basic settings for carbs:

It appears that the settings are correct for each given carb. The outside bodies are likely the same, but I suspect there's some internal passages which might be different. The 134 is for an early model and the 151 is for the later model. All the settings are the same except for the main jet.

Tough call in my mind. I'd be inclined to say go with the 125 main jet on both...but I'd call Bing to ask just to be sure.

Thanks for your reply.

I received a response from Bing. They confirmed that the carb bodies are identical and that I should jet the carbs the same. As for the jet size, they said I would need to read the plugs and go from there.

I usually start with the trusty 105's. 125 is big. You can probably see the difference between the 110 and the 125. I'd probably get another 110 if you were going to match them up.

Like bing said, you really need to set the jet's based on the plugs. If the 110 is white, you need a bigger jet there. If the 125 is black, you need a smaller jet there.

It's not uncommon to run two different sized jets. It is odd that they are off by 3 sizes though.

If you want to play around with different jets check out one of my eBay auctions listing a whole assortment. While you're there, take a look at my other auctions for many different /2 carb parts I'm selling this week. Thanks! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... _500wt_948
