R26 ignition

Post by Covey534 »

I may need a better workshop book than the factory reprint I have, or maybe more patience locating the information. I want to clean up the ignition area & check out the points, so I pulled the bolt going through the center & gave a tug on what looks like a spark advance assembly attached to a flange on the points cam. Do I just need to pull harder, use a wheel puller, or undo something else before I start breaking stuff? I really appreciate the help I've been getting. Thanks.

The points assembly on my R25/2 just pulls off easily once that center bolt is removed. The assembly is supposed to key onto the end of the crankshaft...there's a nub on the inside of the assembly and a detent in the end of the shaft. It's possible that a PO has loctited the assembly in place?? But it really should just slip right off.
