I believe in BMW wiring tech, green wires are power but with a black stripe that means it's switched power.

Solid color wires are usually non controlled, by this I mean no switches, relays, pure power. Color wires with stripes or dashes are controlled.

Yes, the green/black wire is the power+ for the horn itself. It originates at the left side of the top fuse, goes to the stater relay pin #86. From there it splits off to brake pedal light switch and also to the horn.

So, you stuck with the factory wiring and have no relay? You should have no problem unless you go above the 8 amp fuse limit.

LOL, you have a working horn, if you want to ever hook up dual horns, with a relay, I know how to do that with this bike. St.

Thank you so much, both of you. I mentioned learning before and you've both given me some really valuable information. I had no idea about the difference between the solid color and striped wires; that explains a lot and is going to make my journey going forward much easier.

Yes, one horn, factory wiring, and no relay. Most likely as long as I own it things will stay that way. I'll be running it w/ Ohio vintage plates and will mostly just putter around town and on country roads, if you've ever been to Mid-Ohio you know what this area is like, I'm not real far from there. I'm closer to 70 than 60 so my commuting days are long gone as are my long haul days and as are the hour after hour trips on the Interstates where loud blasting horns can help take away some of the fear factor. (Rocinante was the name of Don Quixote's horse, seemed fitting to me; the tired old steed of a crazy old man.)

You have the excellent bike for puttering on back roads with the added benefit of being able to carry a pack horse load for trips if you so desire.

Rocinante, is also the name of the space ship in the new Expanse series, lol. But yeah I knew about Don Quixote. LOL. St.

...another Expanse devotee. When I first started my build thread on DoTheTon I noted the moniker Rocinante and several of the guys there also thought I was referring to The Expanse. Somehow I hadn't seen that one and had to mention Don Quixote. The Expanse void has been remedied, though. I had it going on the TV in the shop all winter while I was working. At this point I have come to not caring which reference one chooses... in many ways either fits.

I give the higher mark to Don, as a classic read. I haven't read the book series the Expanse show is based on. I liked the show, St.

With the proper relay set up for a high current draw side, you could run an air compressor and use air horns. LOL St.
