R26 and R27 transmission removal question

Post by Grant R26 »

I am taking the transmissions out of R26 AND a R27. In the past, I've just taken the entire engine and transmission out as a lump...tight squeeze but do-able. But I'm getting too old to take the entire mass out at once.

Question: is there room to sneak the transmission back far enough to get it past the engine-trans mounting studs without shifting the engine forward ?

if not, can I separate the engine and transmission then take one out at a time ? which comes out first, engine or trans ?

any advice will be greatly appreciated plus save some skin on my knuckles.

Grant,

In order to leave the engine in place and remove the transmission, you will have to remove the rear fender, rear wheel, the battery box and air box, and the swing arm.

Those individual components weigh a lot less each than the engine and trans!

Thanks again Vech ! I figured that was the only way but best to know in advance.
