Mikuni carbs for R60/5

Post by dkanfer »

I have a 1973 R60/5. Giving up on the Bings and would like to try Mikunis but can't seem to find info on which model Mikuni and jetting. Anyone have experience with them? I'm in Florida and the bike will remain at seal level.

Selecting Mikuni Carburetors: Mikuni VM series carburetors are commonly used for motorcycle applications and could potentially be a suitable replacement for the Bing carburetors on your R60/5. However, the specific model and size of Mikuni carburetors you'll need will depend on factors such as engine displacement, desired performance characteristics, and compatibility with your bike's intake manifold.
Jetting: Jetting refers to the size and configuration of the jets (main jet, pilot jet, needle jet, etc.) inside the carburetors, which determine fuel delivery and air/fuel mixture. Proper jetting is crucial for optimal engine performance and reliability. Since you're at sea level in Florida, you'll likely need to adjust the jetting accordingly. However, finding specific jetting recommendations for Mikuni carburetors on a BMW R60/5 may require some research or consultation with experienced mechanics or BMW enthusiasts.super mario bros
Intake Manifold: Ensure that the Mikuni carburetors you choose are compatible with your bike's intake manifold or that you have the necessary adapters or modifications to make them fit properly.
