Engine stand plans

Post by Sapa Inca Sam »

Hello!
I'm the not so recent owner of a 1968 R69S that is in need of a full engine overhaul (non-running bike with a stuck motor). I'd like to work comfortably on this engine and was looking at different engine stand options but was wondering if anyone was either looking to sell theirs or had plans already made to construct their own. I've seen some pictures on line but not any schematics.
So, does anyone know of any DIY engine stand plans?

There was someone who offered engine stands in the past but is no longer doing that...I believe he has actually passed on. Can't say as I've seen much in the way of designs; mostly people just build something that has some versatility. Here are some ideas:

Can generic stands be made to work? If so, seems like you'd spend a lot less time and money that way.

And here's a look at the stands made by the person I mentioned above...these are images from the internet back sites:

Fast. Neat. Average. Friendly. Good. Good.

These communities often have members who are willing to share their own designs and plans for constructing engine stands. You can also consider reaching out to local motorcycle mechanic or restoration shops, as they might have some insights or resources to help you with your project. Good luck with your engine overhaul!
