Hens teeth

Post by 808Airhead »

Here are 2 parts I picked up from Jeff Moore @ vintage restorations. One is very rare / unobtanium, and the other rare, but easier to find. These are for my recently acquired 1958 R69, which came with a more common “Klaxon” horn, but originally came with this Bosch horn, which I gave a quick sand and paint. The other is a R68-R69 ONLY magneto rotor. The one on the bike at the moment has a chewed up nose / multiple divots , caused by improper installation of the advancer. When I pulled out a spare I had, only then did I notice the shorter rear oil seal seal surface. It may be wider as well. So much esoterica with these machines, this being a matching # R69, I felt the effort was justified. Aloha!

A couple more pictures, just finished a complete rebuild of engine and transmission, breaking it in right now. This transmission is the first I rebuilt with the eccentric bushings and paying close attention to shift fork setting really made a difference! This is the smoothest upshift and downshift I have encountered, so very pleased with the results and knowing the effort was well worth it. Set those shift forks!!

Mahalo Michael, being in Hawaii, it is pure serendipity that this bikes find their way to me..😂🤙🏽 I got this last summer and looking forward to riding it this summer after it’s broken in. I threw in a couple more pics, just as I bought it, a “20 footer”, but the inside of the engine was a mess! Appreciate the nice comments. Aloha
