James, I agree with Kurt-
Particularly if the tank might see some E10 during its time on the island.
I've not come across anything negative about the use of tank lining, other than the failures of coatings that wouldn't stand up to ethanol back when ethanol first came on the scene, or failures of incorrect application.
Would like to hear what you've read that has you questioning its use.
Best-
George

A buddy of mine "derusted" his R80G/SPD tank and has been running it "raw" for 2 years. I suspect if you have a solid tank and actively use the bike and use inline filters, this is certainly a way to go (iirc snowbum talks about this somewhere.........) - keep an eye on it. The risk with lining is always you don't get a complete coating or some separation and then get gas/moisture between the layers and eventually leads to failure......If, of course, you have a comprimised tank or pinhole somewhere, lining is the way to go.

After much thought, I am likely going to use it for a bit and thewn put a liner in.

Vech told me about Ospho and if I get surface rust I can always use that.

I think I am going to do POR-15. I have heard great things and it's silver, which was the pre-war color (or so I have been told).

Thanks all!!!

If you use Por-15 get the small car tank kit for its quantity. I thought the recommended motorcycle quantity was not quite enough. Not a confidence builder for a lot of work. It was more suited for a Sportster’s ‘Peanut’ Tank.

But that was only my Novice, Ameuter, Master Piddlers opinion.

I and several other BmW folks use GTL. It’s been a few years since I last used them, but amazing quality and can even be done on a painted tank.
