Troubleshoot Hella blinkers

Post by Wynand »

The RH side is working fine, the LH is not coming on at all.

No problem with the LH bulb.

Am I correct that this can only be a wiring or switch issue? Can it be the flasher/relay as well seeing that the RH is working fine.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Try swapping the wires over at the switch, if the LH works on the RH switch, it is the switch, if the RH works on the LH switch, it is not the switch, test the supply wire switch to lamp for continuity, and also, check the LH lamp is contacting the bar to earth it, I have known them to get severely furred up, the flasher is common so isn't that, good luck.

Yes not the flasher
If you find the switch is bad it can be taken apart to clean the contacts with electrical contact cleaner
Its not hard just don't loose the small e clip
After cleaning I always fill the switch housing with dielectric grease to keep any moisture out
