When I got a battery with no acid, I just took it to my dealer. I can see they might not just give it out, but finding a vehicle business should be able to fill a battery and start the charging process for a small amount of money.

If you get any of the sealed batteries, there is no need to mess around with acid. If you do have a dry lead acid battery, you can purchase the acid from an auto parts store or even from Amazon.

Get a period correct empty battery box and a 5amp AGM battery from Mike at vintagebeemerparts These look correct and the AGM battery will last years without maintenance. These fit all BMWs, pre-war through early Earls bikes.

The lid is larger than it looks in the photo. It fits the box.

For those who have trouble getting the aftermarket batteries into the original box :

I designed and 3d printed a larger box with a similar design but larger that can fit new batteries.
I fitted 6V 14Ah battery with no problem.
12V 7Ah battery can be fitted inside too.
The inner dimensions are : (mm)
155 H
70 D
100 L

Note - it does not come with a rubber strap NOR BOSCH logo.
If anyone is interested - PM me for price and shipping.
