Do all of the racks supposed to have the brace piece in the rear? I am getting ready to install some racks that came on my ‘74 before I restored it. They are black and have the rack that bolts to the cowl (I’m leaving that piece off) but they do not have that rear crossover brace. Are there problems with the racks with no rear brace and no rack?

The panniers move a lot if the crossbrace is not fitted. Problem with the brace is they are hard to find unless you can make one.RegardsSent from my Galaxy

Cross Brace Required/Pannier frame fitting

Post by "Mac Kirkpatrick" »

My bike did not have a cross brace, an essential part to prevent the bags
from "waving" like the wings
of a bird, which will lead to failure of the racks.
I made one, it is U shaped with two holes drilled in the two short "legs"
not all that difficult to do, it made the bags not bounce up and down at
all.
