To answer your question Mac about the flat black strip on the top of early R90S sidecovers. Both of my R90S bikes , built in October 1973, (6 numbers apart) have this flat black strip. Both are totally original for both bikes have very low mileage and were originally sold in Ontario, Canada. Hope this helps to clear up this question. Cheers. Leighton
