As you all know, I am no mechanic, but I had the same problem with my front
forks/brakes a few months ago - one of the eccentric pins just slid out and
the other would not budge. We finally forced the other pin out but, after
putting everything back together, the brakes did not work properly. I
finally found someone who knew what he was doing and the problem turned out
to be bent front forks. We overhauled the whole front end with new sliders
etc and now it is beautiful.
This bloke's name is Ray Peake. To demonstrate the problem he put a fork
slider in his lathe and it swung around wildly. The front forks were so
bad that the new sliders would not go in smoothly so he very gently reamed
the staunchions and now, as I mentioned, it is all beautiful. The stuck pin
could be a symptom of bent forks.
I haven't touched the engine yet but plan to start on it at the end of this
