This is exactly what I'm talking about. My side panels are not straight black. I'd describe it as almost a deep chocolate color. I guess you could say it has a very dark greenish tinge. It appears to have just a hint of sparkle in it. I don't want to paint it straight gloss black. The rest of the bike and paint is pristine. The right side cover fell to the street at 20 mph and is chipped up. My local painters can paint it black and make it look great. I'm hoping to find a Glassurit jobber that can match the original smoke color.
