swing arm removal

Nope, no trick. Regular threads. Of course penetrating oil would be the order of the day.

For my /7, I have a 27mm socket which has had two modifications to it. First, the OD of the socket, for about the first 0.75 to 1.00 inch has been milled down to fit inside the ID of the frame at the swingarm. Second, the inside leading edge chamfer of the socket has been eliminated by milled off the first 1-2mm of the socket. The locking nut at the swingarm is very thin and you need as much bite on the nut as you can get.

I would be sure you're suing the right equipment and give penetrating oil a chance to work.
