Trying to Mount Enduro Bags on a LWB R75/6??

Post by Gman1954 »

Guys I'm trying to mount newly purchased but old Enduro Bags on my 1974 LWB R75/6. They came off a /5, and the test Fit of the Bags looks good to me, just Not the mounts. They have three catches 1 in front, 2 at the back with two Brackets 1 in front 1 in back. I bought the old / original Muffler Loop Mounts in ratty condition. The front catch is correct(operable) with a Shock bolt mounted bracket. See pictures.
My problem is the LWB has NO nearby bolt locations for the rear vertical Bar on top of the loop & that attaches to the rear Bag catches / bracket, AND.. there are no nearby lower Bolt location for a new supporting bottom bracket. . Rear Carrier Rack Frame Bolts are 6" in front of the location needed for the rear bag bar bracket. Besides the Loops are really ugly.. I have 1.5"w x 1/4" thk. flat bar stock that I could fashion into a long mount to the bottom of the rear shock (?) but might be ugly too, sitting inside the muffler. Easiest I could think of, is to make a 1" by 6 " bar to attach the Rack mount point to the existing vertical bracket. Or use a Milford Pipe Hanger to attach to the Rack or the frame rail??
>>Need Suggestions on how to mount and stabilize these Enduro Bags on my LWB R75/ 6 ..

Enduro Bags refit..

Post by Gman1954 »

Thx for the Reply Kurt.. I tried to load larger pictures but they wouldn't work so I exported small ones then "Medium" from my Mac. i'll redo.

The Enduro Bag fit to the Frame is really good: fits around the shock, just above the muffler and the bag to bracket catches are on the same plane as the rear Rack and shock bolts. Love the look these, or I would have bought Wixoms or Krauser.
I'm looking for a better solution than the loops, more like the R69, and earlier, SS brackets that Old-timers sell. They say:" customer will must himself adjust holders/hardware, you must our holders/hardware cut and fixed to your bike is stainless and is easily modified."
I like the design of their mounts but they aren't close to fitting on a R75/6. I could find a local SS Fabricator, but what's the best design?

Seems like there have a number of Enduro discussions on the forum, one primarily offered up by Oldtimers. Probably best to research that here and see what might work for you

Saddle bags Universal holders / Bracket

Post by oldtimers.si »

hi,
you can use some Inox or metal plate , cut holes for baggs pin and bracket holes
make some round bracket for shock absorber
make some distance spacers

here we attach some pictures, how fixed - one of the great guy to her new Indian motorcycle

this is idea for universal holders

also you can fix this plate to original chromed bags holders ..BMW R51 ,R67 .. R45 ,R65 ,R75 ...

regards,Mec

Mec = That is a Nice design! I like it and it is pretty simple to make. Thanks for forwarding the pictures. [She did a really great job in adding edge tubing too.] Attaching to the "right" points on the sub-frames is key.

I, personally have used and like Craven bags. Their rack and mounts are nice and strong, the rack is large enough to strap things on or fit a top box.
