Magneto Brass Plate...
Magneto Brass Plate...
In working on restoring my new-to-me 1965 R50/2, I have taken the magneto apart for cleaning.
I may have gone to aggressive with the Brass Magneto Front Mounting plate. The carb cleaner that I used seems to have taken off the brass coating.
How big of an issue is this? Do I need to be sourcing a new plate?
Many thanks for any information that you can share.
Best regards!
Jim

Re: Magneto Brass Plate...
If not clean the top and bottom contact points with some fine steal wool
Note:
I always use some dielectric grease on all contact surfaces to reassemble

Yes, I will use dielectric grease on electrical contact points and places where movement can occur.
A little more polishing and the plate looks more "brassy". I think I'll be fine.
Best regards!
