Painting underside of fenders

Post by cc238 »

What is everyone doing to the underside of their fenders when painting? Bedliner, same as body, other more resistant material? And how much prep is necessary? completely stripped? Thanks

Fender Painting

Post by Jim D 5112 »

I always painted the underside with the same material as the outside but not to the same level of finish as the outside. I have painted dozens of bikes in the past. These bikes are treated with kids gloves for the most part and never see off road, harsh conditions or a lot of times even wet roads. But I always hung all of my parts from wire and fixtures that went to ceiling hooks to suspend the parts. Almost everything was blasted with a abrasive media. Plug all holes and gas filler in tanks before blasting.

this sure looks pretty. But personally i've masked off my fenders real well and lightly hit the undersides with a rubberized undercoating on my daily riders.
