The monkey wrench, as it were, is that the mag's drawing power is dragged down by not only a tail light but a stop lamp and blinkers. Now add in that the bike usually has a sidecar hooked up that itself has a position light, tail light and stop lamp.

I suspect that the ampers output will only ever be enough if I swap all the bulbs out with LEDs.
