Broken Seat Bracket

Post by charles.walmsley »

I noticed on 1975 R90S the rear bracket which the seat hinge attaches to has broken but is still attached to the hinge. I will obviously have to have it welded back onto the frame but has anyone else experienced anything like this and has any advice on repairing it?

Heres two photos. The first photo shows the brakets seperated from the sub frame.
The second photo I rotated the bracket to where it should be.

BMW has a replacement pin

Post by brownbmw »

BMW has a replacement pin that has a square block instead of the flat plate which makes it easier to weld to the sub-frame.
(I can get this for you if you need). When you weld it back on, whether using your original or the new style, you should weld it the other direction so both pins face the rear. That way you can remove the seat without removing the hinge.
