r90s oil filter internal tube removal

Post by kawachuck »

greetings to all, ive got a r90s that has a destroyed oil pump area and opted to use a spare engine i had purchased along time ago and rebuild it . upon completion i discovered that this was i believe from an r100rt which came with a factory oil cooler.the oil filter tube is longer and i was trying to keep the bike as close to orginal as possible. has anyone out there ever changed the oil filter internal tubes out of a r series and if so ....how? chuck

Snowbum mentions this subject

Snowbum mentions this subject for the oil-cooler models on this page:

http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/coolers.htm

He's writing to discuss how to install one on a non-cooler equipped bike.

My understanding is that there's a slot at the end that you can use a screwdriver on to extract the tube and replace it.
