New poster, a few questions

Regarding cleaning: If the paint is in good shape but a little dull and dirty, wash it first with a good automotive car soap. Lots of suds. Then try a good quality cleaner/wax like Mother's. I would only use this one time, though. It tends to eat away at pinstriping if you use it excessively because...

R27 Inaugural Ride

Thanks, guys. I'll post some pics when I get the wheels sorted out. I may have asked this question before so, if I did, please bear with me. Does anyone have any recommendations for R27 tires? Stock size is 3.25-18 which should equate to 100/90-18 or thereabouts. The bike has 3.25-18 Cheng-Shins now...

Try Boxer works or Bench Mark Works or Blue Moon Cycle. There are often one or two on eBay as well (motorcycle parts - - BMW - - "Vintage" or "Other").

Help find Dennis Kanderis

Max - - Dennis is a friend of mine and has worked on my bikes in the past. He is, as you probably know, one talented individual. For a long time, he was the only person I would let near my machines with a wrench. However, he has been out of the BMW repair and restoration business for several years. ...

R27 Charging Problem

Thanks, Allan. I appreciate the info. Let me get into it and I'll get back to you if needed. The only reason I even had to mess with the headlight pod wiring was because the previous owner had gotten a new chrome switch cover and rain protector (slide) and had never installed it, among many other th...

Our dream bike is gone and I have a question

From your description of the situation, the dealer was dead wrong and knew it. Nonetheless, this could have turned into a nasty situation unless your state has a "buyer's remorse" law which lets you return a vehicle for a full refund within a certain length of time for virtually any reason...

Denfeld Racks

Thanks for the pics and advice. I've found a nice one that I think will fit. Aside from the question of what will fit what, there are several different styles out there. They look basically alike but there are differences. I found that out a long time ago with Butler & Smith /5 racks, too. Richard

Ignition/light switch installation

Darryl -- Just to close this out - - here's what I wound up doing. Got the switch assembled and in place along with the terminal board. Made sure the mounting tabs were sticking through the board; held the whole thing in place with my left hand; took a Quick Grip mini bar clamp (made by Vise-Grip) w...
