Thanks Kurt. I knew it didn’t look right and is consistent with the PO’s SOP. The seat is pretty comfortable so I’ll leave it as is for now. Could I get a silent block at some point and just eliminate the springs etc.? Thanks for the reply.

R60 seat

New to me ‘66 R60. Been working through issues left by PO. Not sure that seat is OEM, so I thought I’d ask the experts. Thanks in advance.

Make sure a PO hasn’t

Make sure a PO hasn’t installed an in line fuse that has blown and that you are getting power to the ignition switch.

R50/2 brake drum

I noticed on my 1963 R50/2 that there was a pulsating feeling on the rear brake pedal when pressure was applied. Upon removing the wheel, I noticed that the drum has two small cracks and the shoes are making intermittent contact with the drum, hence the pulsating. I've looked on eBay and found a cou...

Carbs

Nearly everyone knows that Chinese carburetor quality declined precipitously after the Ming dynasty. If you bought anything made after 1644 you were just asking for trouble. Look for something from 1610-1620--somewhere in that range: better metal, closer tolerances, jade jets... etc.
