Oil Splash Ring question:

Thanks guys, but I don't mean the slingers. I gave a part number. You can see it at this link:

I mean number 1.

Side to side play on connecting rod:

There is no up – down play, only side play. But it is a 1 mm play; seems a bit too much, or isn't it? Can I leave it this way?

More questions regarding engine removal:

Thanks Darryl. You saved me a lot of "learn it by yourself the hard way". Regarding the last line (#5): What do you mean by "so that the nose points inward"? Which nose? I understood that I should "play" and rotate the whole rear drive on the plunger. Am I right? Thank...

OK. So is it possible to take the crank out and replace also the rear bearing – without removing the gear box? Isn't there any access?

Best ways please, to take the engine out from a R51/3:

Thanks Kurt. I thought that taking the crank out is the way for this slinger job. It can also be seen at the workshop manual. Am I right? Or do I miss here something? Are the slingers accessible without taking the crank out? If I will move the tranny and the front timing gears – can I replace the s...

Peter, please don’t be so aggressive; it is none of the 3 reasons you have quoted. I want to make the oil slinger operation. I live on the 4th floor and the bike stands beneath, in the open garage lot. It is a first kick starter, runs fast and smooth, and from my experience – "if it isn't brok...

Generator down…

By the way, while trying to find out what system will be better for me, the MZ or Bench mark works, I think that Bench’s system can be destroyed if running with a weak battery or with none batt. At all, while the MZ-B can do it; am I right?

Generator down…

Thanks Allan. The kit I showed in the site is only for generator replacement. As mentioned, I already took care about the magneto last year, and would like to know if it is possible installing this electronic generating unit without changing the original ignition system. As far as I know, these are...

Information regarding BMW tools:

I can offer these: 2. Photos of 17 pages of the original Matra tool catalog, which has illustrations and descriptions of about 6 tools per page. Each page photo is about 300 KB and the set of 17 is 4.6 MB. 3. A PDF file of 51 pages of the original Matra tool catalog, which is the same as the photos ...
