These are great, and rare survivors. I would suggest that you resist the temptation to do a complete restoration and instead consider a mechanical restoration. Leave the patina intact. They will be more valuable as running, original paint bikes. That may be the case with bikes other than these. Judg...

here is the damper on my series 2 R16 and info from the R11-R16 parts book. some changes were made with the series 5 version of these. Not sure about earlier bikes than these 2 models.

checking back the R16 sold

checking back the R16 sold for 57,500 Euros at the 2009 Willy Neutkens collection auction at the BMW Museum in Munich.
the 1929 R62 sold for 32,200 Euros at the same auction in fact it was the very next lot after the R16, auction fever ?? Nice bikes!
