Re: Carb slide top nut loose

There is no o ring. I don't think there is supposed to be one according to the parts diagram on Max BMW and the Bing book. It's a Bing 1/26/83, type 122. If there's an o ring that'll fit it'd probably add enough tension to stop the loosening. Anyone have a parts number or source? I have a new nut on...

Carb slide top nut loose

Hey all - On my last ride, the carb slide top nut (the knurled round nut) on my R27 kept coming loose. I had to reach down at every stop and hand-tighten it back up, and eventually wrapped duct tape around it to keep it in place. Is this common? If so, is there a simple fix? Will loctite on the thre...

Photos: MOA Rally Thursday, June 8

Are there any planned VBMWMO gatherings tomorrow (Thursday) at the MOA Rally? Anyone want to meet for lunch onsite? I'm riding my R27 up just for the day, and will probably only be there from about 9 until early afternoon. Feel free to call or text 910-574-0376, or email pmtremblay at gmail. Patrick

Another year on an R27

Last May I rode a freshly recommissioned R27 on a Motogiro, a spirited 300 miles over two days through mountainous back roads. I wrote about it on this forum (https://vintagebmw.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=17519), and in the Summer 2022 VBMWMO magazine. The bike had only been on the road for a...

Re: Rolling Rally to the MOA Rally schedule posted!!

Hi - the only day I'm going to make the rally is Thursday, June 8. Will there be a spot the Vintage guys will be congregating? Anyone want to meet for lunch? It's a super busy weekend at home, but I have the day free to ride the R27 up from south of Richmond. 910-574-0376 text or call, or pmtremblay...

Re: Mikuni for R27

I don't have an answer, but please post your results here if you do switch to a Mikuni. There's a video of a guy mounting a 665 here, might be helpful for fitting. https://youtu.be/09YJdWhucXU

Re: R27 Bing part help

Thanks George! I just ordered two of everything - my rule is if it's under $10 or so I get two. Are you riding the Motogiro next month? I just got the R27 engine rebuilt and am ready to go.

Re: R27 Bing part help

Answering my own question here! I was able to look up in there and the jet is still present. I'm ordering a replacement jet to have on-hand, and a couple of cover screws/gaskets. Any other carb wisdom appreciated, like if it makes sense to use a little Loctite blue, otherwise it looks like this prob...

R27 Bing part help

Hello - I was just out on a short ride on my R27 and it started pouring gas from the carb. I found I had a missing bolt on the bottom of the carb (Bing 1/26/83). I just want to confirm with the experienced folks that this is the idle jet, gasket ring and screw plug (OV39137, etc. on the diagram). Is...
