Re: New to this site

Srankin I sure am but is has turned bitter cold here and I can wait. Still no answer on the tach problem but Guenther has been busy on other projects. He did tell me after break in that it was a strong running motor (he ought to know since he owns 2 stock R90S bikes). He said it pulls the front whee...

Re: New to this site

Have not been on here for a while but the project at Guenther Wuest's shop is nearing completion. The biggest problem was getting the OEM 44 mm intake and the 40 mm exhaust seats for methanol gas. This took nearly 2 months from Germany. The bike is running and Guenther is putting break in miles on i...

Re: New to this site

Have not been on here for a while so some updates: 1. 1000cc Siedelbrock kit finally came in. 2. 38mm carbs are here. 3. Conversion back to R90s bars or the nearest thing we could find is complete. 4. Conversion back to R90s switchgear and choke lever is done. 5. New ignition for dual plugs is here ...

Re: install cam technical question

Well guys things are moving along nicely. There have been delays caused by getting parts from overseas. Covic19 has really messed with supply chains here and in Europe. Guenther is finished with the transmission and we are now waiting on bearings for the engine. Because I could I elected to have Gue...

Re: install cam technical question

The ignition system is being changed along with the dual plugging of the heads. There is a specific advance curve built into the ignition module for dual plugged heads which uses a gentler advance curve with less total advance. This is because of the faster flame propagation in the chamber. Actually...

Re: R18 for Demo ride.

Same here srankin. Not my cup of tea, If I wanted a cruiser I would buy a Harley not a BMW pretender. BMW should give up trying to penetrate this market. Their previous attempts have also been less than successful.

Re: install cam technical question

Well guys this bike already has numerous handling upgrades the former owner did. The bike was built at San Jose California BMW and they have a lot of experience with this sort of thing. The Frame was reinforced as well as the swingarm and the shocks and front forks were also replaced or modified. I ...

Re: install cam technical question

Glad to hear from you on this. I expect to get some additional torque from this as I would from switching from any 900 to a 1000 cc's. The compression on my bike with 900 cc barrels and the larger 1000cc heads also likely is below 9/1. The Sidelbrock kit will raise compression to 9.5/1. Wed intend t...

Re: install cam technical question

Thanks for the reply srankin. I have gotten several responses from professional shops and yes it is possible but not advisable. I am going to install a siedelbrock 1000 cc kit in the bike and want a little more cam, probably the BMW 320. Since I have no plans to undo many of the previous owners mods...
