Serious air leaks around the needle jet where it screws into the Bing insert piece. As long as the piece was screwed into the carb body all appeared to b...

R51/3 one carb will not idle down

I am finishing up a 1953 R51/3 and I can not get the left hand carb to idle down. The slide is on the bottom of the carb body, I have checked and re-checked all internal parts which are all new. The body has been cleaned in carb cleaner 2 times, plenty of free play in the cable, all internal passage...

Benchmarkworks 12 volt system

I have to say that the 12 volt charging system from Benchmarkworks is a real bullet proof system and I have installed it on 90% of the bikes I have restored from a 1952 R51/3 to the 1969 R69S and never had a problem. Hardest part of the installation and the part of the process that takes the most ti...

South Florida vintage mechanic

I am looking for a good mechanic in South Florida around the Fort Lauderdale area. I sold a totally restored 1965 R60/2 to a man in South Florida years ago and he needs to have the carbs rebuilt and set up on the bike. Can anyone help me out with a name... Jim

I am afraid you are going to have to pull the head and cylinder on that one. I can not believe this was not addressed correctly when the work was done. Actually if this was over looked I would want to see what is inside.I trusted a Harley machine shop to fit a pair of pistons on my R68 early on and ...
